LCD Kitchen TV: Features That Make a Good Choice

An LCD kitchen TV may be one of the better choices for your kitchen for a number of reasons. The details are in just that –the details. Sure, you can just stick any television set in there if you want to and can make it fit, but you might give up safety as well as aesthetics and will end up less than happy if you do so. If you have a gigantic kitchen that allows you the luxury of a TV just anywhere, then you don’t have that concern to contend with. But for most people, size is just one of the critical factors that go into choosing the right LCD TV for the kitchen.

Safety is the first and most important factor that you should keep in mind when you are choosing a television for your kitchen. Think of the things that happen in that room: cooking, cleaning and eating. All of these things can involve heat, water and other liquids. Setting a television on the kitchen counter can mean that spills or splatters can damage the screen or worse, can increase the risk of the television shorting out.

Putting a television on a stand and moving it around while you are working is inconvenient at best and if you are really busy, for instance, while you are making a large holiday meal, you may forget that you moved the cart to wherever it is when you topple over it. For these reasons, the best bet is to find a model that allows you to mount it under the kitchen counter for convenience and for safety. This also allows you to keep your counter space which in most modern kitchen designs is usually at a premium.

LCD screens are not only clearer and brighter but also use far less energy than other types of television screens making them easier on the eyes and the wallet. The brands all vary on the size of under cabinet mountable televisions that they sell, but for most, between seven and nine inches is about the most common. For most people, having a television that does more is crucial. That’s why so many brands have features that might include built-in DVD players or the ability to link an iPod or other music player to it. Of course, you want to be able to clean the counter from time to time so another crucial feature is a flip down, flip up screen. That way, you can move the LCD kitchen TV out of the way for cleaning and flip it back down in time to catch your favorite cooking show.
